Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze recreate iconic ‘Step Brothers’ pose

Since they heard their names called in the NFL Draft, Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze showcased their unique relationship. Williams, of course, crashed Odunze’s Zoom call with reporters after he went to the Chicago Bears as the No. 9 overall pick – eight picks after Williams – and they both embraced the “Bear Claw.”

Tuesday, the Bears’ social media team showed another side of the former Pac-12 rivals-turned-NFL teammates.

Williams and Odunze recreated the iconic portrait pose from Step Brothers, which quickly made its way around social media. They became the first quarterback-wide receiver duo selected in the same first round last month as Chicago enters a new era, and it’s clear their chemistry is strong after rookie minicamp.

The only thing left to figure out is if they became best friends.

Chicago’s quarterback history has been well-documented, especially in recent years since the departure of Jay Cutler. The Bears took Mitch Trubisky No. 2 overall in 2017, but then opted to move on and select Justin Fields in 2021. Fields and the Bears finished 7-10 last season, but he headed to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason as Chicago received the No. 1 pick from the Carolina Panthers. That paved the way to select Williams, widely viewed as the top player on the board.

Bears fans can only hope Williams is, at long last, the franchise quarterback they waited for. He’s not the only big addition, though.

Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze highlight new-look Bears offense

The Bears were active this offseason to surround Williams with talent, landing running back D’Andre Swift and tight end Gerald Everett in free agency while trading a fourth-round pick for Keenan Allen and selecting Odunze. They join an offense that already has Cole Kmet and D.J. Moore from last year, and Odunze said it seems very familiar to him.

“So many different weapons, so many ways to be efficient as an offense,” Odunze said. “It feels very reminiscent of what I came from at [Washington]. I know they’re going to put us in positions to succeed and I don’t know who’s going to be able to stop us with so many weapons.”

There’s not going to be any debate about whether Williams will start this year, either. Head coach Matt Eberflus made it perfectly clear the former Oklahoma and USC standout would be the Bears’ QB1 this season, and they’ll find out when and where he’ll play his first game during Wednesday’s schedule reveal.
