The Denver Broncos are almost ready for the season. This is a new era, with new uniforms and a new quarterback. The team isn't expected to compete for the playoffs in 2024, but in this league, you never know what can happen, and that's perfect fuel to the fire for a team that has nothing to lose.
Before we get there, though, there are several more things on the offseason schedule that we have to get to first. Of course, there is a training camp, which will be in August. But there is also the schedule release date, which is happening sooner than you think.
The Broncos will soon know they play on what date, how tough their strength of schedule is, and other things.
During the 2024 NFL draft, the NFL teased that the schedule release would happen in May, but they neglected to reveal an exact date. Given what we've seen the last couple of years, it should come out around the middle of May. It was released on May 12, 2022, and May 11, 2023.
Once that comes out, we will update this with the Broncos' exact schedule.
Broncos @ Raiders: The Raiders have a winning streak over the Broncos. We saw Denver end the Chiefs winning streak, maybe they can end the Raiders.
Broncos vs. Panthers: This could be the game that decides who gets the No. 1 pick.
Broncos @ Ravens: Let's see how this team matches up against the best defense on the schedule.
The Broncos had four primetime games last season, as they were expected to be a better team than they were the year before. And they were, but now this team may end up being one of the worst in the league, so I'm going to predict that the Broncos will have three primetime games.
It seems like there is always at least one AFC West game that is primetime for the Broncos, and usually, that game is with the Kansas City Chiefs. They may not do that because the Broncos are a potentially bad team.
So, I'm going to say the John Harbaugh-Sean Payton matchup is primetime viewing, with the two former Oregon quarterbacks going at one another will surely be one, and possibly Sean Payton coaching against the Saints, his old team.
Last season Week 1 and 18 were the Las Vegas Raiders, so I doubt it's that matchup again. This season I'm going to guess that it's the Los Angeles Chargers, just because it feels like they don't ever play the Chiefs at the beginning of the season.
Then again, that would be another reason for them to do that.
