With the season coming towards its conclusion, many clubs’ attention has started turning towards transfer matters. This is especially the case for Barcelona, whose season is all-but over, having been knocked out of the Champions League and having no hope to catch Real Madrid in the La Liga title race.

Contract negotiations are ongoing for Ronald Araujo, and another player who has held discussions in previous months in Pedri. The 21-year-old midfielder sees his current deal expire in 2026, but there is a willingness to extend his stay further.

However, despite positive steps having been taken, Marca have reported that talks between Pedri’s representatives and Barcelona have slowed down of late, mainly due to the club’s financial struggles. Those involved in the talks are unsure whether there would be enough space in the salary limit for a new contract.

Despite this hold-up, Barcelona and Pedri are relaxed about the situation. They will focus on ending the season strongly, and there could be progress made over the summer.
