Former Everton defender Michael Ball hopes Youssef Chermiti gets a run of games before the end of the season.

Ball wrote for the Liverpool Echo: "Youssef Chermiti had his first opportunity to show the Everton fans what he's capable of against Brentford and I was really impressed.

"I'd have another look at Chermiti over these last few games now. I think he's shown enough to show that he's capable and he's ready for the challenge.

"On Saturday he was more isolated up front than he's probably ever been used to given where he's come from and how he's learned the game, developing as a youngster but I thought that he showed some really good touches under heavy pressure.

"The ball wasn't bouncing off him. He was displaying close control and trying to get other players involved.

"Of course he hasn't got the leap of Dominic Calvert-Lewin or the strength and awkwardness of Beto but I think he possesses his own style. He showed a few lovely touches and created a chance where Abdoulaye Doucoure should have done better."
